Is your website dead on arrival? Is the design current? Can visitors maneuver through it with ease?  Does the content express the mission of your business? Are you engaging your targeted audience and driving new clients to your door on a regular basis? If you answered NO to any of these then it’s time to bring your site back to life! Just having a website is not enough. “If you build it they will come” is only partially true. Visitors have to be able to find your business in a sea of competitors. Your website is often the first impression of a potential client. It’s vital that it be good, current and relevant!

Staying Current

Building a website is not like building a monument: a good website is a moving, functioning, responsive place for potential clients to learn about your business and get a real feel for its mission. To stay current in a constantly advancing online world, businesses should strongly consider revamping their website every two years. When your website falls behind on visual fluency and functionality, you risk losing online and in-person clientele.

Remaining Relevant

There are a few questions that you should consider when determining if their website is up to date and reaching its targeted audience.

  • Is it mobile friendly and can potential clients navigate through it with ease? This is the most important question you should be asking about your website! With over 60% of searches today being made from a mobile device, mobile sites need to be responsive and efficient. Google announced that it is now testing mobile first indexing due to the increased use of mobile devices.

  • Is the web design engaging? Does the overall theme flow from page to page? Is it attracting your desired clientele? Are there specific call to actions visible to clients? It is important to keep the design fresh and clean. Too many distractions on the homepage can cause potential clients to lose focus and leave.

  • Can visitors contact the business easily and is the business information correct?  Having the correct contact information is crucial to potential clients! How quickly is your response time? Many visitors will move on if they feel ignored.

  • Content is King! Does the content accurately communicate the vision of your business? Are you drawing potential clients to the site with the subject matter? Is your content relevant to your particular practice area? Many “run for the hills” when we mention content but it is a must if you want to stand out among your competitors!
